Paula is a Wisconsin native, but “crossed the border” to attend the University of Minnesota. There, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting through the Carlson School of Management in 2001. After interning with the big-four firm Ernst & Young, she joined the Minneapolis CPA and consulting firm Carlson Advisors, LLC first as an intern and then as a staff accountant. She joined NRG Energy, Inc’s tax department in 2003, and then went back to public accounting a year later with Grant Thornton, LLP, a large regional firm. There she rose to the level of Tax Manager, and focused her practice on the tax issues of businesses and their owners. During her tenure at the firm, she also earned a Master in Business Taxation degree at the University of Minnesota. In 2007, she took a position as Senior Tax Accountant with Thomson Reuters.
